From Farm to Fridge

In this blog, I will review and summarize the video Farm to Fridge made by,the  group Mercy for Amimals. Most Americans do not and will not ever know how their food gets to their local supermarket; especially their meat and chicken products. This video shows the inhuman process of  animal  food production in the United States.Although the video's overall  main theme for some viewers maybe biased, due to the producers of this film being pro-veganists, I believe all Americans should watch this video.
The video begans with the production of poultry products; poultry products are chicken meat and eggs. Chickens are concentrated in the thousands in units known as Cafo's. Cafo's are defined as concentrated animal feeding operations; in which animals  are rasied in units. In these units chickens and chicks do not have access to fresh air and land. When these are killed for meat and egg production, they are killed fully conscious with great pain.Like the chickens, cows are also concentrated in units with no access to clean land and water. Cows and calf's are suffer in unclean conductions with workers constrantly killing and
amputatiing them for space issues and product production;such as meat and milk.
A lot can be said about the quality of  meat supply when, the meat comes from such unethical treatment. Many people may such accept the slaughterhouses depicted in this video and continue to consume the meat normally and that is perfectly fine. I insist that the meat that comes from the majority of slaughterhouses today is not accpectable.Americans should be more knowable where their food comes from and Farm to Fridge will be a great way to start.

  1. Hello, my name is Heisly and I am a student in Professor Cooper 101 Eng. class. I watched the video “From Farm to Fridge” and read your blog. I enjoyed reading your blog and the details you provide are well executed. Yet I feel you could have included more information. In the second paragraph you mention that chickens are “...killed fully conscious with great pain.” What are the methods used to kill these animals? Are other types of animals treated and killed in the same manner? What are the conditions like in these Cafo’s? Your focus is mainly on the treatment of the chickens. You might try elaborating more on the treatment of cows and touch upon the treatment of pigs. I appreciated your statement in the last paragraph that all Americans should be more aware of where their food is coming from and that the means of obtaining this food is unacceptable. I agree that we all should be more conscious of what goes on in these slaughterhouses and the cruelty these animals are subjected to. The video “From Farm to Fridge” and your blog have definitely opened up my eyes to these issues. Thank you.

  2. hello, my name is Mamadou Diallo from Professor Cooper class ENG 101. i have read your blog and watch the video "Farm to Fridge". i think you gave a very good details, very well done. but i think you should have mention more about fish. how they was drag from the water? how they were toast on boar of the ship? and how 1in5 fish consume world wide is raise in captivity? and you should mention about the pigs too. how they ripe the pigs testicle soon after birth without amnesty? how they were killed because they are not growing quickly? but over all you did a great i"m really impress by your work. i also agree with you at the las sentence when you said "Americans should be more knowable where their food comes from and Farm to Fridge will be a great way to start." thats true we should all know where this food is coming from and how they are producing it because the way these animals was being treadted is wrong and the government should impose law on these farm companies. thank you
